Our automated testing tool enables schools to assess their entire student base quickly and efficiently. Our mission is to help schools identify students in need as early as possible to ensure they get the best start in life. We launched in September 2024 with our Dyslexia test and now have over 400 schools on our platform and 1000s of tests completed. Our next focus is on scaling and expanding into new areas including ADHD, and Dyscalculia.

The Role

We’re looking for a Lead / Senior Software Engineer who loves writing clean, efficient code and solving complex problems - someone who’s ready to take ownership of big projects now, and grow into a leadership role as we expand. In the short term, you’ll work with our existing developer, reporting to our Head of Product, and be hands-on with our platform, shipping features, improving performance, and helping us deliver our ambitious product roadmap. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to shape our long-term technical strategy, influence architectural decisions, and help recruit and mentor the team that will build future.

Your Responsibilities

• Hands-on coding: Write high-quality, maintainable code in Next.js, React, GraphQL, and Supabase.
• End-to-end ownership: You’ll be responsible for working with design to build out specifications, estimate and breakdown features into tasks, build, QA and deploy.
• Shape our architecture: Contribute to technical decisions to ensure the platform is robust, scalable, and easy to maintain. If you’ve got ideas on how we can improve our platform, we want to hear it (and why it’s a good idea!)
• Grow into leadership: Start taking on some team management responsibilities, help shape engineering culture and best-practices, and guide our development team’s growth as we scale.

Your Skills

• Hands-on and adaptable: You love being in the thick of development and can shift gears quickly when needed. Adaptability is key. The world is moving fast and we need to move faster.
• Comfortable across the stack: Advanced skills in Next.js, React, GraphQL, Supabase, Vercel, and Google Cloud Platform.
• On top of best-practices: You should value best-practices that ensure quality output - things like continuous deployment, testing, code reviews, pair programming and retros.
• Some leadership experience: You have an interest in management, and have had some experience leading a squad or small team previously.,
• Open to AI: You understand the practical applications of LLMs (not just hype) and see how AI can improve personalisation in technology. You might also use it in your own work and understand how to increase productivity without sacrificing quality. As a person, we want you to be reliable, willing to take on responsibility, comfortable with pressure and a great communicator.
